Introduction
This release document communicates the major new features, upgrades or enhancements for this release of Bahamas
National Digital Education Platform (NDEP).
Upgrades/Enhancements
- The base code was upgraded to version 5.3 which contained bug fixes and improvements
- The System Architecture was updated - Curriculums & Courses
- The teacher and student class stream was updated based on the new architecture - The class stream was changed to the native LMS
- The "Course Library" was updated to "Lesson Kits"
- The ability for teachers to pull in Lesson Kit content was removed
- Teachers can manage what their students see in the Lesson Kit by enabling or disabling the lessons or individual content
New Features
- Addition of Academic periods to the entire education structure
- Teachers and students can now switch their academic period from a dropdown in the side menu to see past and present courses based on the selected period in the EMIS
- Admins can filter courses by academic period
- Admins can filter homerooms (groups) by academic period
- The National Curriculum was decoupled from academic period/education structure - The Curriculum content is not tied to an academic period anymore so it can be used across periods as the National Curriculum
- Admins have the ability to Map User types from the LMS to User roles from the EMIS
- Addition of the Apps page (landing page) for users - Curriculum Officers, School System Admin and Instructors see the apps page on first login
- Students can now see Lesson Kits for their classes
- Admins can add/remove Curriculum Officers to/from their National Curriculum
- Curriculum Officers can create skills
- Curriculum Officers can assign skills gap tests to National Curriculums
- The user type Ministry Administrator was created
- Teachers can clone units from different academic periods
- Teachers can manage the course rules
- Teachers can edit the class stream using edit mode
- Teachers can create "In Person" live sessions
- Teachers can add events to their class stream
